Our Leaders

Rev. Tom Kristoffersen

Senior PAstor

Tom was born in Norway, moved to America as a toddler, and was raised in Connecticut. He grew up in a home that was culturally Norwegian (he is still fluent) and nominally Christian, but came to saving faith in Jesus Christ while he studied business at Bucknell University. There he also met Deb, and they were married in 1996. After working in the business world for seven years, Tom followed God’s call to prepare for pastoral ministry and eventually earned an MDiv at Biblical Theological Seminary in the Philadelphia area. The congregation of the Presbyterian Church of Wellsville called Tom as their Pastor in the summer of 2006, and he has been blessed to shepherd them and teach them God’s Word ever since. The Kristoffersens have adopted two sons and are also actively involved in foster care. Tom loves spending time with his family, and enjoys good food, reading, listening to music, playing acoustic guitar, and watching movies or Yankees games while he attempts to exercise on his elliptical machine.

David Errick

Ruling Elder

David was born in Niagara Falls, NY and spent most of his life on a farm in rural north central Pennsylvania. Although he grew up in the church, it wasn’t until he was in his early twenties that he made a profession of faith while living in the mid-west and working for an automotive parts manufacturer. David married his wife Pat in Grand Rapids, MI on November 29, 1969 at Central Christian Reformed Church. Living in Elgin, IL, Dave and Pat became members of Westminster Presbyterian Church RPCES where he served as deacon. Returning to the family farm outside Port Allegany, PA in late 1972, Dave and Pat started a small parts distributorship later to become a small parts manufacturing business. In the early eighties, Dave and Pat were used by God to start Grace Presbyterian Church in Port Allegany, PA which later daughtered The Presbyterian Church of Wellsville PCA. David has been a ruling elder in the PCA since 1983. Dave and Pat have two children, Ruth Ann and David Mark, and six grandchildren. Some of David’s special interests besides working at the business and farm are hiking, cycling, snowmobiling, spending time with family, and studying God's word.

Ransom H. Poythress, Ph.D.

Ransom was born in Chestnut Hill, PA, and grew up in a strong Christian home in a northeast suburb of Philadelphia. After making a confession of faith in early childhood, he has spent his whole life in the PCA. After college, he received his Ph.D. in Molecular and Cell Biology and Biochemistry from Boston University. During his time there, he was ordained as a Deacon in the PCA and helped with the University ministry as a member of Citylife Presbyterian Church. He then went on to receive his MA in Counseling from Westminster Theological Seminary where he met his wife Lisbeth. He currently works at Houghton College as a Biology Professor. James R. Rummel Jr, DO

Ruling Elder

Dr Rummel was born in Edinboro, PA. Raised in a christian home, in high school he came into a much fuller, personal understanding of who God is and how he relates personally to us as his creations. He had the pleasure of training for three years at Valley Baptist in Harlingen, TX, a christian family practice residency. His marriage to his high school sweetheart, Cassie, and his three children bring him great earthly joy. In addition to his role as a ruling elder, Dr Rummel also helps with small groups, missions and the music ministries where he plays drums. He spends his days (and some nights) serving the Lord as a Family Practice Physician in Andover, NY. Hobbies and special interests include skiing, camping, wine-making, culinary arts, superheroes, woodworking, computers, and board-gaming.

Nick Sherwood

Deacon

Nick was born here in the town of Wellsville and has stayed in the surrounding county ever since. Raised in a Christian home by two loving parents who were very involved in the early days of this church, he can't remember a day when he was not a part of the church in some way. Now that he is older and a fully committed member of the church, he is looking for ways to give back to the community he grew up in and help spread the love of the gospel. Nick also serves the church as a sound booth controller, technical assistant, and website assistant.
